John Fiala Head Coach
Coach Fiala's passion for football has truly been his entire life. He started his football career in 5th grade followed by playing at both University of Washington and in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is his eighth season as Head Coach for Cedarcrest High School. John is incredibly passionate about the game of football, the growth of each individual and building a family of champions for our future. Go Cedarcrest!
Pete Hartzell Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs
Coach Hartzell has 16 years of varsity football coaching experience, including his time at Woodinville and Monroe. He graduated from Central Washington University where he was a four-year letter-man and honorable mention all-league Cornerback. Coach Hartzell also spent five years playing semi-pro football for Snohomish County Vikings.
ADam Foster running backs
Adam is excited to continue as a volunteer with the Cedarcrest football program. A Bainbridge Island native, he played wide receiver at Western Washington University. He and his wife, Erin, have lived in Carnation for 20 years and have three children who have been part of the Cedarcrest community. Adam has coached youth soccer, basketball, and lacrosse throughout the valley.
Brandon Savage Offensive Line
Coach Savage is entering his 10th year of coaching at Cedarcrest High School. He currently oversees the Offensive Line. He played his high school ball at Inglemoor High School under Frank Naish. During his time with Cedarcrest, he spent many years helping run the Cedarcrest Junior Red Wolves program. He is also active in the local Lacrosse community. He lives in Duvall with his wife Brooke and children Jack and Aria. He enjoys great music, watching sports and working hard to ensure football continues to thrive in the valley.
RJ ISDELL Wide Receivers
RJ Isdell has been passionate about football since he was young. He played all four years at Auburn High School, graduating in 1995, and continued playing football while attending the University of Idaho.
RJ has coached a variety of youth sports, including basketball, soccer, flag football, and tackle football. He spent the past five years coaching with Granite Falls Youth Football and the past four years at Granite Falls High School, where he served as JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Offensive Coordinator, while also coaching wide receivers and defensive backs.
Football has always been RJ’s true passion, and he loves sharing that passion by helping develop athletes both on and off the field.
Outside of football, RJ enjoys hunting, fishing, and hiking. He is married and is proud to be a husband and father of two.
Adam Hineline Defensive Line
Coach Hineline grew up in Bellevue, WA, and played defensive line at Washington State University. Go Cougs! After coaching all three of his sons through the Cedarcrest Jr. Red Wolves program, he’s excited to join the Cedarcrest High School staff and help young athletes develop, succeed, and have fun along the way.
Sam Teddy Defensive Line
Coach Teddy is in his first year of coaching high school football. He is the defensive line coach and played defensive end for Eastlake High School. He owns SJ Teddy Plumbing and lives in Snohomish with his wife, Maggie. He is passionate about the game of football and encouraging men to be leaders on and off the field.
Odin Sjavik Offensive Line
Coach Sjavik played football at CHS from 2021-2023 and looks forward to his first year of coaching. He loves the game and is excited to give back to the program that gave him so much.
Mitch Tolsen Full Backs
Coach Tolson's love for football started in 6th grade where he's spent the majority of years since playing or coaching the sport. This is Tolson's second year at CHS, and has coached all sides of the ball and nearly all positions at youth levels. "Hustle from the heart", "Execution excellence" and "Teamwork" are three key montras. Tolson focuses on helping individuals realize their full potential on and off the field. Outside of football, Tolson has coached wrestling, lacrosse and robotics teams. When not coaching, spending time with the family, or in the gym, Tolson can be found designing and building robots. Michael Schauble Defensive Backs
Coach Michael Schauble is in his sixth year of coaching football, focusing on developing disciplined, high-IQ defensive backs. He has experience as both a former high school and college football and track athlete. As a NASM-certified trainer and founder of ZenRock Fitness, he has worked with athletes from the high school level to the pros, specializing in building explosive speed, strength, and agility while emphasizing injury prevention and long-term athletic development. Off the field, Coach Schauble is a proud father of three and the CEO of a video game publishing company. His coaching is guided by a favorite quote from Nick Saban: “Do the right thing. Do the right thing when the right thing is not popular.”
Michael Warsaw Linebackers
Coach Warsaw grew up in Central Oregon, playing football since the 4th grade and high school ball at Mt View HS in Bend, OR. Following in his dad's footsteps to play college football, he went on to play linebacker at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA where he was a 4-year letter and served as a captain his senior year.
Michael has lived in Duvall since 2017 with his wife, Lauren, their aussies, Blue and Smokey, and horse, Captain Alfred. He is excited to give back to the sport that gave so much to him and keep the passion for football alive in the next generation.
Will Flink JV Head Coach
Will returns to Cedarcrest football program as the Head JV Coach. He has lived in the Valley for most of his life in both Lake Marcel and downtown Duvall, graduating from Cedarcrest in 2022. Will likes reading, listening to good music, and indulging in NFL content, most of which involving fantasy football.
Ryan Byars Equipment Manager and Strength Training
Coach Byars brings over 28+ years of experience working with youth through teaching and coaching a variety of sports. Originally from Lynnwood, WA, he has called Duvall home for more than 18 years. He currently teaches Physical Education and Health at Cedarcrest High School.
Throughout his career, Coach Byars has demonstrated a deep commitment to student development, both in the classroom and on the field. His passion for fostering growth, teamwork, and resilience has made him a respected figure in the Issaquah and Duvall communities.
Outside of coaching, Coach Byars enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Jaime, and their two sons, Magnuson and Maddox. He also enjoys hiking, weightlifting, and watching YouTube—often with the family's dog, Pedro, by his side.
Makenzi weber head Athletic trainer
Makenzi is in her fourth year at Cedarcrest, where she serves as the Head Athletic Trainer and now taking on the role of teaching Sports Medicine. Over the past four years, she has had the opportunity to work with student-athletes across the school and has loved getting to know them both as athletes and as individuals. From caring for athletes during practices and competitions to spending Friday nights with the football program, Makenzi values being part of the big moments, challenges, and successes that make high school athletics so meaningful.
